trailers and vid thoughts
Dec. 7th, 2018 08:42 amI watched the second Captain Marvel trailer, a few days late, and remain hopeful that I will latch on to this movie. Do I know what's going on? Only sort of, from comics fandom osmosis. Will that matter? Hopefully not.
Then there's the Avengers 4 trailer, which, regarding one thing, I CALLED IT, despite not watching the Avengers movies.
I KNEW after I saw Ant-Man 2 that Scott and the quantum realm was going to play into how they fix it. Everyone who didn't see the Ant-Man movies because they don't matter as part of the MCU: SUCK IT.
But also, um, that tone shift in the trailer from the main MCU to Scott doesn't work at all, and I doubt it will work in the movie as a whole, and I don't understand why Marvel DOES these things (cf Thor: Ragnarok as well). But I'm not going to watch the movie anyway! So it's fine.
And finally, a vid: Landsailor by helcinda. It is a Sidney Crosby vid (I think helcinda labels it as both Crosby and Penguins, but... it's Crosby all the way.) I didn't think I had Crosby feelings! But here we are, watching it like fifteen times and rolling around with pain in my chest. I think because the vid takes him beyond his actual personhood into myth-making, which is a thing I'm a sucker for. Like how I love the version of Dr. Who that I THINK Dr. Who is (mythical, alien, beyond) and then I watch the actual show and it's just... not that, and I get mad.
Mythical Croz is p great. As is the Duper sequence and the Mike Sullivan sequence and all the little Letang bits, which make my heart ache, because if I ever truly loved a Peng it is Kris Letang. The Geno bits are also good but not quite PERFECT and I can't figure out why, guess I'll have to watch it another fifteen times.
