My hockey team is bad! They are so bad. On paper they should be decent, they were predicted to be decent, this was supposed to be Our Year, but they are bad. The "relocate them to Quebec City" routine has revved up again, though I'm not sure why being in Quebec would make them play any better. My theory that they're a mob front who need to lose for tax purposes stands, but still. I wish they were better.

If only I hadn't given my heart to Aaron Ekblad back in January 2015. I could break up with this stupid team. But wherever he goes, I must follow. (Trade him to Dallas.)

Aw, Panthers. :( I've been a little checked out re: other hockey teams this year, but I'm always kind of lowkey rooting for them for no reason I can pin down. (Contrariness? I like the colors in their uniforms?)

Since you are a Cats fan, I have to ask: I just realized recently they stripped the C from Mackenzie and gave it to Barkov. Was there drama there? Or was Mackenzie meant to be kind of a placeholder?

DMac was always a placeholder and knew it, the only question was which of the younger guys would get the C when they were ready. He seemed very relieved to be able to step back out of the spotlight... and then he injured himself and had to have surgery and is out for the rest of the year anyway, which is the last year on his contract and he stated firmly that he's retiring, so! It all worked out pretty smoothly, I guess.

Aw well, that's good then. And I'm tickled a Finn ended up as captain, since there aren't a lot of them. What a rough start to his captaincy, though! (...is there any fic out there about that?)

I put a little bit in my wingfic, but it was mostly focused on Ekblad NOT getting the C. All of Barkov's teammates love him SO MUCH, though, he is the team husband, so they all support him and it's beautiful.
